IN A BENEFIT BASKETBALL game the Middle Hi|h School Faculty Team lost a hard-fought game to tire Wildwood Faculty 94-79. Joe Bimbo of Wildwood was the MVP of the game, scoring 22 points. He was helped by Mike Coront with 20 and Stretch Ostrander with 20 and Freeman with^pomt^. For MiddledAndy Ridgway had 18 and Tom Feraco 16. Don Buessinb and Chick Ludman 14 and Dennis Anderson MIDDLE WANTS TO PROTEST the game because Ostrander is not a qualified teacher, but is a college student doing his practice teaching at Wildwood High. Tom Hall and Ozzie Osborn, regular basketball referees, officiated the game, and did a great job. Clayton Palmer was the scorer. This game should wind up the basketball season at Middle Twp.

players from the Philadelphia area professional teams to Avalon for the weekend. ERNEST YARBOROUGH and Joseph Brophy. co-chairman, announced the players and their families will arrive Friday afternoon. A special reception for the athletes with borough officials and civic leaders will be held early Friday evening. Then a hayrtde will start the players visiting the various entertainment spots in the borough. SATURDAY WILL start

off with a 10 a m parade followed by dedication of the 8th Street Recreation field. A series of sports clinics will be conducted for the kids, culminating with a celebrity soccer game with the youngsters. A celebrity-chamber softball game will be held at 5 p.m. followed by a dance at Community Hall. Sunday's activities open with a home run derby at 9 a.m. followed at noon by a two-mile run. The weekend will be capped off with a Superstars competition on the beach at 30th Street.

Middle Township’s Panthers opened their Boy's Tennis season with a close victory over Hammonton April 15, 3-2. Orton Hicks led the assault as the defeated Chuck Phillips 6-3, 6-0. Freshman Scott Smith made his Varsity debut and bowed to Phil Sharp 6-3, 6-2. Third Singles Junior Eric Stone dropped a 6-1, 6-0 match to Joe tyMIDDLE'S HOPES for victory rested on its doubles teams. delivered as 1st doubles Tom Hersh and Bemie Blanks took a 6-4, 6-4 win. Second doubles Senior Scott Bond and Sophomore Wayne Towson coasted to a 6-1, 6-4 victory. Middle hosted Lower Township Monday, April 19, and dropped a 3-2 decision for their first loss. Hicks again had little difficulty with Lower’s Greg Douglass and handed him a 6-3, 6-3 defeat. Scott Smith lost 7-5, 6-1. House’s Eric Stone bowed to Scott Swain 6-1, 6-3.

WILDWOOD - The Greater Wildwood JayCees are sponsoring a "Night at The Fights" to be Tuesday Evening, May 11, at the Tropicana Hotel Casino in Atlantic City. The casino will provide transportation to and from Atlantic City. Departure will be 6 from the K-Mart Shopping Center in Rio Grande and return at 1 a.m. All proceeds are for the benefit of Operation Junction.
