CONGRATULATIONS to Kelly Hoffert who has just been named to the Notional Honor Society. Kelly spends much of each summer here with proud parents, Jim and Judy Hoffert of Jacquea Sweater Outlet in Stone Harbor Mall. A RECEPTION May 2 at the Golden Inn in Avalon honored the Burdette Tomlin Hospital Auxiliary Jane Hartin presented awards to many of the volunteers following a welcoming speech by William T. Waldron III, hospital administrator. Mr. Waldron said of the group "Their smiling faces and willing spirits are a great source of inspiration to our patients and staff alike...On behalf of the Board of Governors and entire hospital family, I extend my heartfelt thanks to all our volunteers for the kindness and services provided to the patients and our hospital throughout the past year." AWARDS WERE given to many for the number of hours of service accumulated during their years of voluntary aid at the only hospital in Cape May County. The grand total of hours is staggering and residents of Stone Harbor and Avalon contributed many. Cleta Fisher of Stone Harbor received her 3,500 Hour Bar. Among others honored from these two communities were: 2,000 Hours Bar—Margaret Compton and Mary Keaveny of Avalon and Mae Albright of S.H.; 1,500-Hour Bar—Vernls PHert of S.H., Alice Zegel
of Avalon; 1,000-Hours Bar—Margaret j Matt. Marion Zuch, Avalon, and Martin Patmos, Joseph PHert, Esther Woll, S.H.; 500-Hours Pin—Margaret Klotzbucher, Arnold Morris, Margaret Noone, S.H., Jane Ford, Mary Wheatley. Avalon; 300-Hour Pin—Gloria Armao. Dorothy Balllette. Henrietta Haig. Myrtle Rowles, JFrances Walters, Avalon; Edna Hunter, Peg Maxwell, S.H.; emblems for 100-299 hours were awarded to members of these two communities as well. The unspoken thanks of countless patients go out to these generous people. MEMBERS OF THE Lion's Club of Stone Harbdr are really roaHng about the success of their May 2 Spaghetti Dinner at Hahn's restaurant. It ran from noon ’til 8 p.m. We have on ly a partial list of the many workers who arrived at 8 a.m. to start preparing the feast—and feast it wasl We’ve never tasted better pasta or salad. The men spent four hours chopping lettuce alone. Among the master chefs were our smiling plumber, Harry Keen of Avalon, Frank Klebaur and Herman Kapp. We might have thought the waiters were chosen on the basis of their good looks had they not been so proficient. Among this group we spotted Billy Dlller, Bill. Dougherty, Ed Yeager, ^m Owings and coffee man extraordinaire,
Bob Hafele.
MORE THAN 700 dinners were served and we think we ran into everyone we knew from Avalon and Stone Harbor and lots we didn’t. We ran into Betty Flynn of the Cross Country Shop and discovered she lived two doors away from us in Wynnewood.

WE HOPE you’re not sick of heariiig about our trip cause weill never stop talking about It. Our shopping time was limited by an* illness and beban to panic
at the last minute. Not to worry, island Girl on 3rd Ave was open and Charlotte Konopka asked what I had that I could use, and suggested a red linen blazer and sweater to go with it and my problems were solved It even was responsible for getting me on television for the first time. There was a telly crew aboard for the entire
trip.
ONE THING amused us greatly — a smashing Regimental Band was on the dock playing as we pulled away and guess what they were playing? The theme song from the television show Dallas. One last Question and we promise never to mention QE II again. Jane and Carey Boss came out to welcome us home in their boat as did several others we’ve heard of, but who in Avalon owns the Lovely Lynn? We saw you plainly and Mary

Bud the bus driver was a talking enclopedia and they didn't miss a thing They all had a buying binge at the discount stof'es and famous Farmer's Market. They stayed at the Brunswick Inn in Lancaster, had a sUperdelicious dinner at the Plain and Fancy Restaurant and the gang was so congenial and delighted they sang all the way home. Among the 41 who made the tour were Wiley aftd Jean Christie, Frank and Jean Rollo, Nancy Ritchie. Father Wes and.Ginny Martlry^id Ed and Thelma Yeager. Ed Yeager made the arrangements and deserves the credit for its success. A BIG PLUS in entertainment for summer residents will take place in Stone Harbor this coming season.
