Mid-May approaches. That’s okay by us We love this time of year (Bet you do too.) The higher temperatures are a delight. So are the blooms. So are the warming beaches, although we’ll wait a bit before jumping into the It’s getting harder and harder tti sleep late in the morning; daylight is peeking through quite early nowadays. (We ll forgive May for that!) . , w ... WITH ALL THIS TALK of the enchantments of May it s difficult to believe that anything but good events occur this month. But, to invoke a little history, on May 13.1934, high northwest winds blew millions of tons of rich top soil through our atmosphere all the way from dry farm lands ^ far to the west of us. Never before had the region seen such a sight Surrounded as we are by May’s glory today, it is hard for us to imagine the conditions which could produce such a dust storm as thai was. Let us hope that no part of our country will ever be visited with such a catastrophe again. . THERE ARE LOTS OF BIRDS about these days busying themselves. With all the abundant life going on about us. we may have been too busy to step outside to observe the May skies. To date we have traveled almost half way along our yearly path around the sun. since the year began - along to number five in our clock-face path. This means that new star groups have come into view at this state of our journey. Some of the planets just now are most beautiful objgdsjn the morning or evening sky. Keep a lookout. N And. also, some suggestions for stepping out: ARE YtHMXXfKING FOR A QUIET RESTAURANT with an interesting menu? Come to Capt’N Ahab’s! Capt’N Ahab’s fine restaurant, on Fft. 47 (Wildwood Blvd.) between Rt. 9 & Garden State Pkwy. is an oasis of peaceful dining, in a simple setting, off the busy highway. We like this quality restaurant that offers fresh ingredients prepared into tasty specialties at affordable prices. Best of all, the Captain is a gracious host, asking after your health, and supervision the kitchen with unmatched skill. Open for dinner. Wednesday. Thursday, Friday and Saturday, from 5 to 9 p.m., you’ll like the unruffled atmosphere and thoughtful service. THE GRAND HOTEL IS A GRAND PLACE for dining and funning. The Grand Hotel Restaurant and Nile Club, on the beach at Rochester Ave., Wildwood Crest offers a wide selection of entrees, including a full breakfast menu, available 8 a m. until noon. There is a daily dinner menu, with the same prices in effect as is 1981. (Dinner is served 5 until 9 p.m.; Friday & Saturday until 10 p.m.) The June Maxim Trio will be featured starting tonight. (You’re going to love their style!) The Grand Hotel can also accommodate banquets, weddings & parties from 25 to 300 people. For information & reservations call 729-6000. URIE’S SAYS ‘come aboard and dine well’! Urie’s is probably one of the best known nautical spots in the entire shore area. While the Jersey Shore boast plenty of first rated restaurant-lounges, Urie’s is still one of the most popular in the Cape May County area. Located on Rio Grande Ave. at the bridge, just as you enter Wildwood, the dockside complex has views that are easy to rest the eyes upon. You’ll totally relax as you feast on delicious food. (Of course, the seafood is scrumptious here!) The beverages are excellent. Easily, the choice for families, or for just the two of you when you want a romantic evening out. Music, singing and dancing until

the wee hours.
