Training. The program offers a Physical Fitness Award to each recruit who complies a minimum of 450 points. Recruits who score 500 points receive membership in the club and honorable mention at the graduation ceremony.
IN THE EIGHTH week of training, recruits compete in a mile-and-a-half run, a 100-meter swim, the standing broad jump, pushups and sit-ups to collect points. A 1980 survey revealed that 10 percent of the recruits totaled 450 points and received the Physical ,Fitness Award while an average of one recruit per company received the perfect 500 points and membership into the 500 club. AN UPDATED LOOK at the records showed a dramatic increase of 35 percent in the number of recruits who received the Physical Fitness Award and an average of three recruits per company who received the prestigious 500 Club membersip.
