Marina Adding 100 Slips

AVALON - The construction of 100 new deep water boat slipe, accommodating boats to 60 feet in length and a name change for the present Darling Marina, the home of Darling Yacht Sales, marks the beginning of the 1962 boating and fishing season here. Located on the western side of the Intercoastal Waterway at buoy ft, the newly named Avalon Point Marina is one mile South of Townsends Inlet and three miles from exit 13 of the Garden State Parkway, on Old Avalon blvd. MARINA PRESIDENT William T. Darling announced the deep water slip construction and expansion program and the name change, "The new facility will be known as the Avalon Point Marina. Our boat sales and brokerage division * will continue as Darling Yacht Sales.” He added, "The expanded marina will accommodate 110 boats up to 60 feet in length, with no restriction on draft.” Darling said that the $500,000 Avalon Point Marina slip constructor! program is well underway

with the first new floating docks for 30 boats already in place. Construction will be completed prior to June 1. A new 140-foot fuel dock is also being constructed. The dock will provide both gas and diesel fuel from a set of four pumps. "OUR PLANS include the construction of a waterfront restaurant in 1963, with transient slips for patrons and the construction, in 1964; of a 60 unit Boa tel," Darling said. The 1962 Avalon Point Marina event schedule includes a major tuna and marlin fishing tournament. Golden Of Cape May county, who died recently at his Avalon home. Golden was a member of the Board of Commissioners of the Authority since September 1972, and had served as chairman and vice-chairman.

TRENTON - The state Dept, of Transportation will receive bids tomorrow. May 43, for the resurfacing of a 1.5 mile stretch of Atlantic Ave., North Wildwood. The project is funded 75 percent by the Federal Government and 25 percent by the state, and is to be completed by Dec. 3.

Expansion For Marina

MARMORA - An application for an Army Engineer Corps permit to construct a floating wave barrier floating dock and finger piers in Peck Bay adjoining Roosevelt Blvd. here has been asked by Clayton and Dilks Inc., t/a All Seasons Marina. The purpose is to protect the marina and boats from storms, accommodate larger boats, and provide additional dockage. Plans also provide for relocating a wave barrier and floating docks and installing mooring pilings.
