We are sure she’d ap preciate getting cheery cards during her own convalesence Her address c/o Mr*. Ann Jordan. 2438 Robinhood Rd.. Roanoke. Va. 24014 AN UNUSUALLY large attendance turned up for the hearing on a- use variance to permit David Hoy to use the back of Hoy'll Five and Ten. 219-96th St. foi* the emplacement of from five to eight electronic games to be used as a gathering place for youngsters in a space 6 ft. x 12 ft-9 in. Jdr. Hoy. represented by attorney Raymond A. Batten. stressed that he had no wish to open an arcade per *p Thf^ the place would be under close supervision by an adult at all times and would be open ‘til no later than 10 p.m Concerned residents protested that there would be extra traffic in the already overcrowded area on 97th St and both noise and additional lights would be ob-
jectionable to neighboring residents. The ' Zoning Board, recognizing that the youth of the borough must have a place to gather for recreation purposes, reluctantly but unanimously disapproved the variance — with some members saying that if Mr. Hoy would locate the entrance at the front of the store on 96th St., they would be willing to give further thought to the matter.

ST. MARY’S Episcopal Church’s annual rummage sale last Saturday did its usual land office business. As always, they kept their prices low in favor of the customer, and the same hardworking girls were there to help In giving out credits the name of Bill Allen is not to be overlooked. He is always there to lend a hand when heavy work needs to be down. Bill lives at Harbor Towers and commutes daily to work in Philadelphia.
WE GAIN some, but it’s always a yank when people we like move away. Dolly Parton. a much-loved resident of Stone Harbor has sold her house on 107th St. and is moving to New York to be near her two daughters, and Betty Blair and husband Bob are being honored at a farewell party given by the Bill Klotzbuchers this week. They are moving to North Carolina permanently. Boro Council regretfully accepted the resignation of Rudy D’Alessandro from the Zoning Board. He and Julie are moving to Florida. They’ll visit first in Orlando, then Punta Gorda and live in Singer Island. Ron and Lydia Borek have moved too. But this is a move we like — they’re moving back to where Lydia spent her childhood. Their new house is at 21st and Avalon Ave. right around the comer from her parents Emma and Raymond Carbon!. • • • DID YOU KNOW that as well as being an Englishspeaking country Australia has a language all its own?
