Committee, P.D. Don’t Mix—Moran
LOWER TWP. - Incumbent Republican Township Committeeman Jack Moran has again questioned his opponent's ability to serve if elected; and, in a separate news release, reiterated his contention that funding for bulk trash pickup should never have been eliminated from the current municipal budget. Alluding to published reports about Middle Township Committeeman Michael Voll, who is also a Wildwood policeman, Mr. Moran asked how William Hevener, the North Cape May resident seeking the Republican Committee nomination and also a policeman in Middle Township, could assure either township of his (Hevener’s) fulltime cooperation. THE REPORTS about Voll said he had failed to ifiake a scheduled court appearance concerning a
Wildwood police matter because he was involved in Middle Township business at the time and forgot, and that as a result had been disciplined by the Wildwood police chief for taking off from his police duties to attend to township municipal functions. "This policeman had to be in two places at the same time." Moran noted in a news release, "one as an elected official, and the other as a pbLceman. Choosing to tenen to his duties as an eletted official, he neglected his duties as a policeman." ACCORDING TO Moran, such an embarrassing incident could befall Mr. Hevener were he to become a member of local government while employed by another township. "Middle Township residents deserve the right to have a fulltime policeman," Moran stated.
“Lower Township resident deserve an dfficial who can faithfully attend his Committee functions." In another press release, Mr. Moran termed as "over-inflated," the figure of $35,000 which his fellow Committeemembers said was saved by eliminating bulk trash pickup this year. ACCORDING TO Moran, the cost of equipment and the salaries of township employees already hired by the Road Dept, shouldn’t be figured in the bulk trash costs since they are already working for the township. "As for the temporary employees who were hired, it ; is highly unlikely that they were all used specifically for bulk trash pickup." Moran said. "I believe that areas within the budget could have been cut. m order to spare this valued servicp to our residents.” ihe incumbent Republican reiterated
Cable TV Credits For Outages?
MIDDLE TWP ^ Democratic Township Committee Candidate Charles Leusner today said he is formally requesting the Board of Public Utilities require cable
television companies to provide monthly credits to its customers at times when cable outages occur. "I have a strong feeling that a person should not be required to pay for

something he has not received," Leuener said. "If the cable is i , down" six times in a given month, the cable service should be required to give a refund or credit to its customers." Leusner said he hopes that the BPU will consider his request, because it is unfair to place a consumer in the position ofl paying for something he hakn’t receiv-
ed.
“I believe tha the use of more sophisticated equipment and high technology machinery cduld have prevented the widespread outages which occured last fall," Leusner s*id. "I also believe that all residents of Middle Township should be able to have cible TV if they desire it." |
