Memorial Day Rites Planned

CAPE MAY - Memorial Day Services sponsored by the Cape May area veterans organizations are scheduled f$r Monday May 31. CmdK John T. Dellinger of Harry Snyder Post 193, American Legion, has announced. Residents are invited to attend the ceremonies which will begin at 11:15 a mi with Memorial Services on the Promenade in the vicinity of Convention Hall. SPEAKERS AT the ser- ' vices will be the Mayor Arthur Blomkvest, Capt. William J. Russell. Commanding Officer of the Coast Guard Training Center. Cape May. and Joseph Koury. National Deputy Service Officer. Veterans of World War I. Musical selections will be by the Coast Guard Training Center Band. There will be a Flower Boat Launching by Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 82 and an airplane will drop a memorial wreath in the ocean. Chairman of the arrangements committee is Carlyle J. Dennis. IN ADDITION to their participation in the formal services, the area veterans organizations will be responsible for the decoration of gravesTJf all known veterans with flags. The groups will assemble at the

Monument at Columbia Avenue and Gurney Street at 8 a.m. for appropriate ceremonies and proceed from there to visit all the cemetaries in the vicinity Cape of May. “Sunset Parade May 30 — CAPE MAY — The first of seven Sunset Parades will get underway this Sunday at the U.S. Qoast Guard Training Center parade grounds. Open to the public, the Retreat of Colors is a popular ceremony for civilian visitors and military personnel as well. On holidays, such as this Memorial Day, there is a speaker in addition to the parade. Those attending the ceremony should be seated a half-hour before sunset. Personnel at the entrance gate direct drivers to the parade grounds. Sunset Parades for the 1982 season are scheduled (weather permitting): May 30, June 17, July 4 and 22, August 5 and 19 and September 5.
