Chinnici Pushing to Raise Drinking Age
TRENTON

IN 1972 Chinnici, one of three members of the General Assembly voting against decreasing the drinking age from 21 to 18,
led the fight on the floor of
the Assembly.

" Noting.that about 70 percent of high school students are 18 years of age prior to graduation, the assemblyman stated: "I have always been appalled by the increase in traffic accidents by youthful drinkers, and even worse, I have personally seen the spread of the use of alcohol among the younger high school students due to the low drinking age." CHINNICI SAID the current legislation would not interfere with an 18-year-old owning or working in establishments/selling
