He will conduct the morning session of the seminar June 4. covering in depth the screening and therapeutic approaches to gastrointestinal cancers. AVALON - The expanded duties of Bob Matt as head of summer activities in the Department of Public Works were explained by Matt in a recent speech before the Chamber of Commerce. Matt’s job, he explained, started out with supervising five young men in cleaning up the beach and boardwalk area. IT WAS LATER enlarged to policing litter in the recreation area and daily trash pickup in the business area and litter
pickup on the Dune Drive Islands, the Causeway to Townsends Inlet and 30th St. to the first bridge. This year, Matt said, he will be responsible for some 40 summer employees, including beach checkers, beach, boardwalk and business area cleaners, and a new. group, beach porters. HE WILL also share responsibility with the Recreation Dept.in the tennis-ballfield and rharina
areas.
A new three-wheel motorcycle will be provided for the beach tag supervisor to give him more mobility and provide additional contact with the guards. Matt will officially begin his extended duties June
12.
