Sounds By The long-awaited album by Blondle has finally hit the record racks and while it doesn’t recapture the youthful exhuberence of their first releases, it is much more consistent than the confused and disjoined Auto Americana, which preceded it. The Hunter (Chrysalis) is a nice collection of pop tunes. Debbie Harry is in fine voice and the material shows a strong leaning towards different rhythms. Nothing startling or highly original, yet Blondie still succeeds because they seem more aware of their limitations this time around. ORNETTE COLEMAN is one of the most innovated bandleaders in jazz. His alto sax work has been universally praised for its raw, human qualities. As a composei'. Coleman’s music can vary between free flowing and tight and chaotic. Of Human Feel ings (Antilles) is his first release in some time and fans of. Ornette Coleman won't be let down ... His playing is bright and demanding and the music he’s written dynamic and forceful. This is truly beautiful music. It's nice to have Ornette back. • • • PETE SHELLEY’S Homosapien has been one of the hottest and most popular records on the rock/disco scene and now his debut album seems Jo have the right ingr to attract an even [larger audience. Homosapien (Arista) is a strong set of modern day pop tuner. The title track is an inW

tious treat, and the rest moves along rather nicely, too. Parts will appeal to fans of bands such as Soft Cell and Human League, but Pete Shf#py also has a pure rock and roll base these other Wands don’t have. Pete Shelley has a bright future ahead of him.

JOE "KING” Carrasco and The Crowns' third 1 album, Synapse Gap (MCA) is another highly enjoyable flatter. Nicely blending country, Mexican, , early rock and roll and R&B to come up with a highly unique sound, Carrasco and his merry cohorts dish out tune after tune of feoodtime music that is meant to make people smile and dance. Granted radio seems to ignore this type of music these days, but I hope a few of you will pick this gem up. Joe "King” Carrasco and The Crowns are well worth hearing. Lecture On Switzerland CAPE MAY - An illustrated Iqcture on Switzerland will be given 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at the County Art League. 1050 Washington St., as part of the League's spring lecture series.
