A Place to Play “Information, Please"

By Jacob Schaad Jr. MIDDLE TOWNSHIP - It is another pleasant day in Cape May County, ihe warmth of the sun's radiance complementing the cool breezes that waft the countryside from the ocean. From the north and the west the migration has begun, some as early as daybreak. Cars bearing license plates from New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Ontario, and even more distant

points, converge on the Garden State Parkway, heading south for those precious days in surf and sun. On any summer day waiting to greet them at two points on the parkway is a Cape May version of "Information, Please," a staff of the county’s Chamber of Commerce whose job it is to answer all questions about- the state's southernmost county and to make visitors as comfortable as possible. They are sort of a "Welcome Wagon” without wheels.

ONE OF the information points is at the restaurant stop on the Garden State Parkway in Seaville. The other one, a larger version, is in the Cape May Court House, right on the Parkway which really is Route 444, but which everybody calls the Parkway anyway because it links two sections of tne road The headmaster of these two educational centers for tourists is Robert C Patterson Jr who has held the formal title of executive (Pagfc 3 Please)
