February is celebraled as Cherry Pie Time, due I am sure to the stories of George Washington and the cherry tree. If you are a cherry lover, cherries are in your meal plans all through the year I love the big oxhart cherries you find in the markets in late May and June. I am fortunate also to have a cherry tree in my back yard which produces its fruit at this time. Cherries are available frozen, canned, or in jars of pie filling all through the year in the supermarkeLs. I keep a supply on hand for last minute desserts. Following are a few of my favorite recipes. CHERRY SUPREME I <4 cups graham crdchcrs ' '4 cup sugar 'A cup butter t cup milh . pound marmmalloyvs I jar cherry pfyilling % pint heavy cream

Prepare graham cracker crust by mixing crushed graham crackers, butters, and sugar. Place crust in an 8". square baking dish. Bake 8 minutes. Save some crumbs for topping. Melt pound marshmallows in milk, let cool. Beat heavy cream and mix with marshmallows. Pour half of this over the crust and then pour cherries over this. Then pour the remainder of the marshmallow mixture over cherries. Sprinkle crumbs overitop. Chill until firm. Serves 8. CHERRY CARNIVAL iy 4 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder ^ teaspoons salt y 4 cup soft shortening I cup sugar
