Sees Banner Year For Dems CAf»E MAY - Firman Loree was re-eiected Democratic city leader for the sixth consecutive year Monday night at the reorganization session. Other officers re-elected were deputy leader Frank C. Hesel and secretarytreasurer Beatrice Grimes. The city leader told the group that 1962 can be a banner year for the Democratic party. ••OUR CANDIDATE for U.S. senator can serve many terms but the age of the opposition candidate does not indicate she can accumulate that type of tenure,’.' Loree pointed out. He said'the difference of 14 years will cause many voters to gravitate to the Democratic party in November. ^ The party leader also opined that Rep. William J. Hughes has an opponent with whom the voters are not familiar. He predicted Hughes will win a landslide victory. "Republicans must nominate a ircbholder candidate whereas Jim lannone, our nominee, already is known to thousands of voters. This gives our party a distinct advantage," Loree said. Plans were made for a summer picnic. ‘Raft Beaches' Designated

"Last fall we, along with many others, urged the voters of Cape May County to support a ballot question that changed the interest rate to allow the bonds to be sold. The question was approved

overwhelmingly.

"WE SAID AT the time the MUA should get $2.6 million from the state bonds for the construction of the Ocean City treatment plant and now it has actually started to happen," Hathaway

Warning: Hurricane Season On

COURT HOUSE - The County Office of Emergency Management has called attention to the official opening of the 1982 hurricane season, beginning June 1. County Coordinator Lyndon H. Simmerman, in a memorandum issued to county staff members and the local coordinators of the county's 16 municipalities, alerted them to the need for readiness and preparation for the six-month period ending Nov. 30. THIS CONCERN for the safety of the county’s residents and visitors underscores the recent statements by Dr. Neil Frank, head of the National Hurricane Center in Miami, Fla. Dr. Frank noted the increasing peril to the coastal areas from severe storms, with more construction taking place and more people living by the coastline. He pointed out that most residents in these coastal regions had never experienced a major hurricane.
