‘AVALON — The second annual Avalon Sports Weekend was a great success, accorcling.to Ernest Yarborough and Joseph Brophy, co-chairman. Even with a few last minute surprises, the weekend went smoothly, they reported. Ron Jaworski of the Philadelphia Eagles, Bobby, Taylor and Tom Gorende of the Philadelphia Flyers stole the show. Hundreds of youngsters and adults turned out for the parade, the clinics and the celebrity tfallgames. THE WEEKEND was begun last year by the local Chamber of Commerce to kick off the summer season and pay tribute to the professional athletes that give Delaware Valley fans so much pleasure. The initial event proved such a success it became an annual event. It is something the entire family cab take part in and it brings the community together," noted William Leahy, Chamber president.
CAPE MAY - The se-
cond annual City Benefit Tournament has been scheduled for the weekends of June 26, 27 and July 3, and 4 at the William J.
Moore Tennis Courts. According to Gregory
Coffee, executive vice president of National Associates, and chairman of the tournament committee. this year’s proceeds will go to the Cape May Library Commission. The
tournament will be for mixed doubles and men’s doubles, with trophies awarded for all classes. John Bodnar, president of the Cape May Tennis Club,' will be tournament director.

Pool Opening
SEA ISLE CITY - The Beach Patrol has announced its summer schedule listing the protected beaches in the resort. Beaches at the following streets will be protected by lifeguards: 29th, 32nd, 34th, 38th, 40th, 43rd, 45th, 50th, .54th, 58th, 61st, 66th, 69th, i 74th, 78th, 82nd, 85th and . 89th. Beaches where rafts are permitted are listed as 38th, 58th, 66th, 74th, and 85th Sts. Surfing is permitted on 30th, 48th, 76th St. beaches. Persons wishing to launch sailboats may do so at 1st, 26th. 55th and 80th Sts. The Handicapped Persons
Beach is at 44th St., where a special ramp has been constructed for easy access to the beach.
Summer Hours
VILLAS — The Lower Township Recreation .Center has announced its summer hours. Beginning Monday, June 21, the Recreation Center will be open 10 a.m.-noon Monday thru Friday. The center will not be open evenings or Saturdays during the summer. Regular evening hours will resume after Labor Day.

CAPE MAY - The swimming pool on Winslow Ave. and, Rosehill Pkwy. here will open Tuesday, June 2|, the Lowers Township'fiecreation Dept, announces: The pool will be open in the morniilgs for swimming lessons and will open to the public noon-5 p.m. on weekdays. Saturday and Sunday the pool will be open to the public noon - 5 p.m.. There will be no lessons on the weekend. The pool will also be closed to the public on Mondays.

CAPE MAY — Hobie Cat skippers and their crews from 12 northeastern states will meet at Cannone Beach here next weekend, June 26 and 27, for the 2nd Annual Cape May Classic Hobie Cat Regatta. LAST SEASON Cape May witnessed itp first Hobie Cat Regatta in y recent years and as a result, this year’s ^regatta has been seleckti as the site for the 1982Ttyortheastern Champions |£ps Particularly important to the skippers and their crews is that all winners will automatically become pre-qualified for the 1982 National Championships later this year in Texas, South Carolina and Florida for the various classes. IT IS EXPECTED that nearly 200 Hobie Cats will be entered in this year's competition, which is nearly double the number of competitors in last year’s. THE REGATTA schedule includes activity on both days next weekend with the skippers meeting starting promptly 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Beach Patrol Headquarters on Cannone Beach, Four races are set for Saturday with the first start scheduled for 10:30 a.m. and three races on Sunday with the first start also at 10:30a.m. Further information or registration dap may be secured from me Department of Civic)Affairs at 884-8411 ext. 20 br 27.
