An expanding population here and continued interest in pleasure horses nation-wide have made the raising and riding of horses another popular outlet for the recreation-minded residents and

visitors of Cape May County. It is estimated that there are now 2,000 horses in this county -- one for every 40 year round residents — and that the figure could go up to 2,500 in the next decade. “There has been a consistent in••e^se in the quality and quantity of horses and riders in the past 25 years,” said John MacLeod, the senior county agricultural agent. the horse show of the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital that was held recently at the Meadow Creek Farm in Clermont. Only three years old, the event attracted 170 entries in 64 classes and awarded over $5,000 in prizes. The entry list was the largest since the inception of the show which drew 80 in its first year.
