I told you I would bo back this week with the winners and catches from South Jersey Marina’s $10,000 White Marlin Open which was compared by Opt. Hick Weber to ancient Camelot Well, all the knights are nameless in this contest (and a lot of others anymore) so I have no choice to tell you but-by the boats name who won With 90 boats fishing there were 22 white marlin taken, and 43 released. They also had four big eye tuna, one 75 lb. yellow fin tuna, and one 66 lb. wahoo. A 93 pounder won it for the Aye Roller, and a 248 pounder took first place in the big-eye tuna category for the Libra II. MEANTIME this week, the Cape May County Annual White Marlin Tournament was held with 29

boats competing. This is a release tournament, and they ran into poor fishing The first day two were released, and the second day 12. The fish were there, all the skippers said, but they just wouldn't bite. In the team'^iwards the Ocean City Yacht'Club took first prize; the team consisted of the ciristi, the Miss Judy, the 4Q'k and the Nellie — the Nellie also released a blue marlin. IN THE BOAT awards category the Christy took first. She is owned by Anthony Ferraco of Cheltenham. They had two fish caught by the owner,

the Sea Raider, and Cpt. Charlie Selby on the Rainbow. The Misfits Fishing Club from Philadelphia boated over 425 fish, and the high hook had 35 fish. Pool winner was Mark Newsome with a 17 lb. 4 oz. blue It seems like the heat of the day sort of knocked out the bluefishing, but when the evening ^got cool they started biting again. I think most of this action was down around the Rips, bediiijn pt. Rill Henley on the driy trips of the Sea Rider was reporting the sartre thing, and he mentiojied that they had taken a few blowfish for the first time in many a moon. FLOUNDER fishing started to improve too David "Jerry” Jerahek called on Thursday He'd been out on Cpt. Tom Robert's My Gal. and they'd gotten 47 flounder. Jerry hud 14 himself, and one went 4 lbs Another encouraging report came from Cpt. Jay Beecroft on the Ronito Cpt. Jay took a party up the bay on Thursday and fished the upper end of the Puijk Grounds They caught 20 weakfish, and were all "spikes,'' but as Cpt. Jay says, it proves they're still there. I think we're going to have some . good weakfishing.in the Bay in August, and the flounder seem to be improving too.

Cpt. Steve Rea on the Bfvo said blue fishing came to a screeching halt on Friday, but the chumming night boats are still picking up lots of stammers according to Cpt. Bill Boh Mullen on
