AVALON MANOR - Middle Township Public Safety Director Michael J. Voll announced the appointment of' William T. Darling as Middle Township’s new Harbor Master Darling, who resides in Court House with his wife and three children, will be responsible for patrolling the approximately 20 miles of waterfront property within the township, which extends from Townsend’s Inlet ,to the Rio Grande Avenue Bridge IN HIS DUTIES as the

township's chief Marine Officer, Darling will provide assistance to the Police Department, enforce the pollution laws, and promote conformity to boating safety laws. Darling will be serving at no salary and has also agreed to provide a 20-ft. boat with a 175-horsepower outboard motor at the township disposal. The taxpayers will not be required to spend one cent for salaries or providing a boat, Voll said, with a saving of approximately $25,000 per year.
