Most of the seashore resorts and the county itself have scheduled diversions ranging from treasure hunts to art and an-
tique shows to baby parades
In keeping vt'ith the tradition of John Philip Sousa whose Marine Corps band performed in Cape May City, music is high An the list of entertainments being offered this suitimer. Military bands are especially bfg in Cape May County The U S. Army Field Band Ambassadors launched the season in Cape May and the U.S. Air Force Band of the East’has already appeared there in four performances in two days Fbr those who missed the Cape May per formances the same band will present two* more concerts on August 20 at Bp m at the Ocean City Music Pier, and on September 3 at 7 30 at the Sea Isle City bandshell Still to come is an August 5 concert at Cape May's Convention Hall by the First Marine Band which has been described as Abraham Lincoln's own band from Michigan " Since Lincoln wafc a visitor to Cape May. the historic image of the city
will be continued in a sense through the music of what was his favorite military band. OTHER TYPES OF music will be offered throughout the summer. The Mozart Society Orchestra will present a concert on the night of July 28 at 8 o’clock at the church of the Advent. Cape May. Sea Isle City continues the celebration of its 100th birthday with concerts on August 4 and 11 in its promenade bandshell. On August 18 Sea Isle will feature a barbershop quartet concert and on August 25 popular tenor Sal Barbo will present an evening of Broadway music and light opera selections. All concerts are at 7:30. Avalon has scheduled a series of dances' on July 24 and 31 and on August 14 featuring the Al Raymond Orchestra, the Russ
Patrick Band and the Doctors of Rhythm. Ocean City has a Sing-A-Long on July 24. the Young Entertainers on August 6. the Fralingers String Band on August 7 and a Hobo Band on August 13, all at 8 p.m. at the Music Pier. ONE OF THE highlights of the musical season will be a change of pace. On August 14 at the Ocean City football field, a drum and bugle corps Parade of Champions will take place. / For those who enjoy beauty pageants, the county is offering quite a few this summer. The Cape May Beach Patrol Pageant is on August 20. Stone Harbor will crown its ‘‘Little Miss Stone Harbor” on July 23 at its elementary school. If al] this isn’t enough to entertain vacationists and year round residents on a low budget, then there still is more diversification that includes wrestling in Wildwood, a sun tanning tournament in Ocean City, a series of lectures at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor and a variety of programs
at the Cape May County park.

and Lower Township Lantern.
