THE RESOLUTION drew protests from Christine Miller of the Bank Street Improvement Assoc, and James Allen of the Neighborhood Improvement Assoc. Miller objected to the tour buses using the Bank St. lot, contending that cancer causing agents in the diesel fuel were dangerous to the resident’s health. She charged flooding was caused by the lot, an allegation that was strongly denied by Mayor Arthur Blomkvest, and that the buses were dangerous to children playing in the street. Mayor Blomkvest said the city is working on a solution to the problem that will help Bank St. area residents. Miller said>§he still would not support they solution if it was near other v prople's homes. "MAYBE IT won’t be near people's homes," the mayor hinted. A contract for 12 new fire hydrants at $450 a piece was awarded to the New Jersey Water Works Supply Co. of Mays Landing. License applications were granted to the Cape May Tennis Club Inc., also known as the William J. Moore Tennis Center, for a dance and benefit at Convention Hall Aug. 14, and to Henry C. Needles, trading as High Roller Limousine Inc. of Villas for a sevenpassenger taxicab.
