Rabies Shots For Cats Urges

TRENTON *- In response to reports of rabid raccoons in Eastern Pennsylvania, the New Jersey Department of Health is recompiending all pet cats in the state be vaccinated against rabies. "The behavioral patterns of raccoons and cats are similar. This fosters intimate contact and greater interaction between these species." explained Dr. Robert Goldsboro, coordinator of Veterinary Public Health in the state Department of Health. The department also notified all veterinarians in the state to be on the ] lookout for rabid animals, and suggested local officials increase efforts to pick up stray cats and dogs, and immediately complete the annual dog surveys.

Meeting On West Ave. Work

OCEAN CITY - The state Dept, of Transportation will hold an Information Center 4-8 p.m. July 26 in the meeting room of city hall todiscuss proposed improvements to West Avenue from 18th to 24th Sts. here. Proposed improvements call for reconstruction of the street with bituminous concrete. Reconstructed West Avenue will have two traffic lanes with left turn . slots at intersections and a 20-ft. wide painted faedian to separate traffic lanes. Angle parking will be prohibited, but parallel parking will be allowed.
