Dining Guide

August coming up! The late flowers will be coming in, and thq new fruits, and a lot of vacationers. Augustus, the first Roman emperor, named the month after himself (modest fellow, he was), because he wanted his month to follow that of Julius Caesar, whose nephew and heir he

was.

Pleasant subject to bring up, BUT house flies are now everywhere after our food, and carrying their maximum k load of germs. Their rate of reproductimi is so great that one pair could produce more than 140.oAb bushels of flies in three summer months, if they have thllright amount of food and moisture. So use your fly swatter. Local tomatoes (delish!) and sweet c^n, lima bepns. and squashes are now ready for the table with a dozen of so other good things from the garden. Early peaches are being picked and grapes will soon be ready to use, so that this is the high tide of the year for fresh foods. Temperatures may get high this week. Sometimes old records get broken this time of year. We hope there won’t be any record-breaker this year. Anyhow, onto some suggestions for having ydbrselPo> good time: FRED’S TAVERN—ALWAYS FUN!
