Panthers, Eagles Tied
STONE HARBOR - The penant race in the Lions Club Little league has tightened through the second week of the season as the Eagles pounded their way into a tie for first place with the Panthefs. The Wildcats opened the second week with all-9 victory over the Aces. Winning pitcher Mark Hacket needed some last inning relief from Sean Kimmerly to squelch a desperate Ace rally. THE PANTHERS and Eagles squared off in their first contest of the year. Panther pitcher Rob Hamilton was in control throughout early innings of the game, but veteran catcher Tom Wolfe’s RBI single in the top of the fifth enabled Eagle pitcher John
Duiy to lead his team into a tie for fifst place. In their second game of the week, the Panthers rebounded to defeat the Wildcats 10-0. Howard DeRlas went two for three, ^ including an RBI triple, sparking an eight hit Pan-
ther attack.
Injuries have plagued the Aces in the first two weeks. All star third baseman and pitcher F.P. .Daily broke his ankle and is out for the season. The Aces were looking for their first victory against the Eagles, but a big day at the plate by Tom Wolfe and brothers Todd and B.J. Jarose sent the Aces down 16-3.
