August already! Can you believe it? Where has the

summer goner • j The southward bird migration is soon to begin. Along the Atlantic Coast the egrets are returning from their nesting grounds in the north, and so are the sanderlings. Black skimmers and common terns are now on their way, too Other migrants starting now are the tumstones curlews, willets, least and semipalmated plovers and

black terns. The wheel of time has turned a quarter cycle on its rim, and morning arrives later than at midsummer and alas, evening arrives earlier. At dawn there are only a few bird

calls.

Earth’s pulse is calm and unhurried in August, and the moving waters match the mood of the season. Whether the skies are blue or gray, late summer is a good time to store

up green thoughts for the months ahead.

Cape May County is definitely one of the best places in the world for spending a vacation. We can say that unequivocally. (You’d better agree!) While those of us who live here year round may get a little frantic in August trying to catch up with houseguests, jobs and getting in a little beach time for ourselves, you'll find we consider ourselves spoiled by the beautiful environment

here. We love it. And that’s final.

While we’re busy bragging, here’s some local spots we want to add to our brag list: „ . . URIE’S-CREAT SEAFOOD! Cape May County s great seafood experience presents a tradition of excellence, and Urie’s, located over the bridge, Rio„Grande Avenue, Wildwood, stands alone in the realm of quality and variety. . / . , ! Along with selective steaks, chops and chicken, urie s features soft shell crabs, steamed clams, loiters and savory surprises. The wine list will please eveijfche most discriminating taste. Urie’s includes enough great restaurants to enjoy every day of your vacation. Open daily for lunch, dinner and late snacks from 11 a.m. to 2 a m Take-out too. HERONS NEST—DELECTABLE! The finest seafood, steaks, quiches and crepes are served daily at the Herons Nest Restaurant and Lounge, 78th & Dune Drive, Avalon, located at the fabulous Concord Motel. . Just-steps away from the water's edge, elegance and comfort are yours in this renowned spot where warmth and hospitality abound. Everything is served with the pride of experience and a fine reputation. Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, there is also a late night menu served 10 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. The Patio Bar & Luncheon is open from 12 p.'m. Live entertainment is featured Thurs , Fri., Sat. & Sun. with the talents of Terry Lowe. CAPTN AHAB’S—QUALITY FAMILY DINING. Capt'a Ahab’s located on Rt. 47 (Wildwood Blvd.) between Rt. 9 & the Garden State Pakrway, has become a local drawing card as an authentic family restaurant. ‘ Now open 7 days a week, Monday-Saturday 5 to 10, and Sunday 5 to 9, good food is celebrated here in a total family atmosphere. Capt’N Ahab's is popular with parents who know the children are well taken care of here, with special foods they’re sure to enjoy. Fresh fish and fine meats are the order of the day everyday. MARABELLA’S-GREAT ITALIAN CUISINE. The only thing better than a delicious Italian meal is a delicious Italian meal that’s inexpensive at Marabella’s, 95th & Third Avenue, Stone Harbor. At Marabella’s, you'll find piled-high pasta, Italian favorites, Marabella’s specials, and fine Italian delicacies with prices that remind you of years gone by. Everything is prepared with personal care and foreign flavor. Only a unique family restaurant can maintain the old world traditions, personally selecting the ingredients from the best available, and blending them into homemade specialties. (Page 18 Please)
