‘Old Brick’ Will Mark Its 268th

COLD SPRING - Cold Spring Presbyterian Church, 780 Seashore Rd., known as "Old Brick,” will celebrate its 268th anniversary, Aug. 15, with the 75th consecutive Rally DayHomecoming Service at 11

a.m. Sunday.

The Rev. , Joseph B. DeLaurentis, a United Church of Christ minister, now residing in Absecon, will be guest speaker. He has served pastorates in New York, Massachusetts, and New Jersey, and has also served as chaplain for many organizations, among them the Disabled American Veterans in the State of New Jersey. "OLD BRICK Church,” founded in 1714, is one of the ten most historic churches in the country. The first church building was a small log cabin. The present building was constructed in 1823, remodeled in 1848, and an addition was attached to the front of the

building in 1966.

SURROUNDING THE church building is the old cemetery, the resting place of many descendants of those who came to this country on the Mayflower The present pastor. The Rev. Fred C. Bischoff, has been serving the congregation of “Old Brick" since April, 1980. Following the service, an outdoor Uarbeque will be held on the grounds of Price Hall on

Academy Road.

CAPE MAY POINT - The final week of the Renewal Conference ; meetings at Union Chapel on the Circle here, features the Rev. Edward Wade of the People of Hope, a Roman Catholic community in the Camden Diocese, and Jimmy Clanton, a former rock and roll singer who has been called into Christian ministry and has a new song in Jesus Christ. Father Wade who will be speaking Thursday and Friday evenings, is widely known in this area for his healing and deliverance ministry. It is suggested by Chaplain Don Theobald, conference director, that people arrive prior to 7:30 p.m. as seating is limited. The Rev. Francis Sizer, who was to speak, couldn’t attend, and Fa. Wade will minister in his place.

SATURDAY AND SUNDAY evenings at 7:30, Jimmy Clanton will be speaking and singing. He was a millionaire at 17 and a movie was made about his life in which he played himself. The conference’s renewal emphasis will continue with Rev. Richard G. Green Jr. speaking the evening of Aug. 22, followed by a mini-conference Aug. 27 thru 29 featuring the ministry of the Rev. James Brown who has been called the Father of the Charismatic movement in the Presbyterian Church. All meetings begin at 7:30 p.m.
