ERMA - The Taber nacle United Methodist Church will celebrate its 179th Anniversary Sunday
Aug. 15.
Rev. Daniel Hulitt will be the special guest speaker for both the 11 a m and 7:45 p.m. services. Rev. Hulitt has served in the Southern New Jersey Conference since 1941. He was the founder of Boys Camp in Tabernacle, which for many years provided summer recreation and camp opportunities for underprivileged children from the cities, and was the forerunner of Tumethca Camp, which is still carried
on.
REV. AND MRS. Paul vander Loo, who recently assumed the pastorate of Tabernacle Church, coming here from Stratford, will -render special music at both services. Other special music will be by Norma Landis. IN 1H84 A CONTRACT was taken by Daniel B. Bible Student To Take Pulpit RIO GRANDE - Shelley Gale, member of Grace Gospel Chapel and a senior ministerial student at Baptist Bible College in Clarks Summit, Pa., will present a message entitled Examininf! the Servants of Christ at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday. Vacation School WILDWOOD CREST Vacation Bible School is being conducted 9:30-11 a.m. daily through Friday, Aug. 13, at Crest Community Church, with Peggy Mitchell, Patricia Hall and Alice Harrison as teachers. Rev. Charles L. Rowe will preach at the ll a m. Sunday service, with Mrs. Bette Van Dyke at the organ. Mission Renewal STONE HARBOR - There will be a Mission Renewal for both parishoners and visitors at St. Paul's Church, 99th and Third Ave., Aug. 15-20. Services will be held after the 8 a.m. mass each day and during the five days a special 7:30 pm mass will be held with the Mission Renewal service following. ‘Osborns Plus’ In Concert SEA ISLE CITY - The Osborns Plus ♦ will be in concert at the United Methodist Church at the 11 a.m. and 7:30 p.m. worship services Sunday, Aug 15. Guest to Lead P.M. Service WILDWOOD CREST - Rev Matthew Brown will lead the evening service at First United Methodist Church, 6700 Atlantic Ave., 7:30 p.m., Sunday. Aug. 15. Rev. Brown is pastor at John Wesley United Methodist Church in Bridgeton, part of his congregation will appear with him. Morning worship is at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a m with Sunday School at 9:45 a m.
Hughes and Swain Hoffman to build the second church. In the autumn of 1857 a chapel was dedicated in "Teal Town,” now Fishing Creek. Rev. Socrates Townsend preached the sermon. On June 21, 1875 the cornerstone for the third church was laid and the old church was sold to neighbors at "Centerville"
for $202. A new parsonage was built in 1895 — now the local barber shop operated by Harry MacDonald, who is a member of Tabernacle
Church.
The year 1917 was another expansion date. The fourth church was built , and dedicated. The Rev. Harry Garrison was the pastor. The building com-
mittee was: William Bailey. Levi Dickinson. Edward Learning, Lemuel Schellenger. Reuben Johnson and Rev. Harry Garrison, The congregations worshipped there for
almost 50 years.
