Time Out Dining Guide Past mid-August now. The insect chorus is still at its height, day and night this week, although night temperatures are getting lower, and the tempo of -the katydid and tree cricket songs is slowing a bit. More migrants are reaching the New Jersey coast this week Among these are the little blue herons, willets and white egrets. The first of the bobolinks are starting,n^w This week finds most of the crabs and lobsters shedding their old suits of chitin (kitin) and getting new ones.^iese ordinarily brave fighters are hiding away under somprotecting rock and mud bank while their new coat of armour is taking on its load of limestone, and thus becoming hard. The shedding process is one of the strangest things'that happens in the sea. A break first comes across the middle of the back, and out comes the soft body in a great arch. . Immediately the body gets larger, so much larger that you wonder how it could ever have been inside the old shell lying there. Then you marvel at the completeness of the molting. As you examine the old shell, you find not only every leg and fin and gill there, but eyes, antennae and even the lining of the stomach! • • • Even tho summer draws to a close, there is plenty to do and see and enjoy hereabouts. A sampling for you: DINNER AT ALEXANDER’S. This extraordinary Victorian mansion has been turned in an extraordinary restaurant. Alexander’s at 653 Washington St., Cape May is.a silken atmosphere from long-ago with the perfect blendings of food, flawless service and Diamond Jim Brady style. The Sunday brunch is a recommended repast, served from 9 a m. The grand style of the Victorians is recaptured in rooms decorated with imported custom wallpapers, brilliant with fine silver and crystal. The brunch includes fresh fruits, egg specialties, and deluxe sweeLs prepared for your dining pleasure. All the coffee you want is served in it’s own silver pot with warmer! THE COUNTRY HOUSE RESTAURANT — FINE SOUTH JERSEY COOKING! The Country House Restaurant, on Shore Rd., Burleigh (1 mile south of exit 8 of the Garden State Parkway) has been a landmark for over 25 years. The red shingled restaurant is noted for homemade soups and fresh baked pies, served in a home-style atmosphere. The chicken and turkey dishes are especially recommended. There are also specials served 4 to 5 p.m. The Country House Restaurant is open Sunday 3 tofl:30 p.m., and Tuesday thru Saturday from 4 to 8:30 p.m. TOP OF THE MARQ — TOPS FOR DINING & DANCING! For that special night out during vacationtime, the Top of the Marq rooftop restaurant tops almost anything else. Overlooking the rolling Atlantic Ocean, this is one of those extraordinary places you’ll remember for a long time. Located atop of the Mdrquis deLSTSyette Inn, on Beach Drive at Decatur Street, Cape May, there’s dining and dancing and good times up there. "Now A Then.” a most danceable band, is always pleased to plav your romantic requests, the food is outstanding, the drinks are ample & vbry satisfying. Dinner served from 5 p.m. Nightly beat the clock specials too. NATURALLY. ED ZABERER’S IS UNBEATABLE! This restaurant serves everything on the grantf scale! There is simply no other way to describe the impressive atmosphere and feasting in this spectacular restaurant. Off exit 6 at the Garden State Parkway, fbod portions are gargantuan. The menu is unsurpassed^n^ offers prime ribs, seafood, fish and extraordinary dishes of all kinds. The desserts are, of course, heavenly! The entire restaurant is decorated with antiques, statues, theatrical posters, animated figures and hundreds of Tiffany lamps. (Page 18 Please)
