Hospital Project A $6M Boost

CONSTRUCTION WORKERS from Wildwood erect forms for foundation support beams for new five-story patient tower at Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. Court House. Named New Law Partner

COURT HOUSE - The economic impact of the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital expansion and modernization program on Cape May County and South Jersey will reach six million dollars in local payroll, according to hospital administrator William Waldron. Waldron announced today that of the 46 million in labor payroll generated by the program in 1982, 1983 and 1984 , 60 percent, or 43,600,000 will be paid to

GOP Club Meet

AVALON - The Women's Republican Club will start its fall season with a meeting noon Sept 7 at The Ixidge. Anglesea Plans will be completed for the champagne gala Sept 11.

county construction workers. The remainder," 42.400,000, will be paid in construction labor payroll to residents of South Jersey. THE ADMINISTRATOR noted that the 43.6 million paid to county construction laborers will have a significant impact on the economy of the county. "Much of the labor payroll will be accounted for through sub-contrMrtors," said Waldron. "And, a ripple effect on the county's economy will be experienced as a resutl of the entire labor payroll of 46 million Waldron said that of the 46 million in labor payroll generated by the expansion and modernization of the hospital, approximately 45 million will be expended in 1982 and 1983 with the remaining million in 1984 THE LOCAL payroll ex penditures will have a positive impact on the

depressed construction industry, according to Waldron "The injection of 46,000.000 in this area’s economy will be a needed shot in the arm and will affect the economy for some time," he concluded. Robert Patterson, County Chamber of Commerce director, stated that the injection of 46 million into the region’s economy and more particularly the 43 million in local county payrolls would, "...do a great deal for the county's economy, particularly in the Winter This comes at a time when it is particularly needed as we have had an undramatic summer." Additionally, Patterson noted that with the exception of government. Burdette Tomlin is the largest single employer in 1 the county and has an an nual operating budget of over 415 million, of which a v major portion is payroll.
