case of a call. They work in close cooperation with the emergency unit at Burdette Tomlin Hospital comprised of Doctor^ Engstrom,- Murphy and Wagner ably assisted by Bobi Sikora and her nursing staff. During summer up to 25 or 30 calls for help are received weekly which averages 5-6 hundred a year. The corps is constantly seeking to upgrade itself At present a $50,000 Braun ambulance is on order to replace their 1971 conveyance and another $10,000 will be needed to fully equip it. The most remarkable aspect ff this 40-member squad is that it is self-supporting. It has a $40,000 annual operating budget and the lesser medically trained members work, year round with the other 25, to raise these funhfi by means of chicken barbecue dinners and other projects. This is a profoundly praiseworthy service which if provided thru a tax basis would cost taxpayers' between $150,000-$160,000 annually. Support it every way you can — rertiember it could be your lifeline!
