The city gels about 20 per cent of each art sale If there is a profit, it will be used by the city's recreation department Because of her position as director. Mrs Betz, a graduate of the Cleveland School of Art and a student of New York Artist George Cheropof. has never competed in a show This year she exhibited 45 paintings which were not in competition Next year, however, will lie a different story "I'll lie right in there fighting with the rest of them," she promised In recognition of her dedication and accomplishments, Mrs. Betz was presented with a gift of appreciation from the city's codhcil by Mayor Arden Hand. Freeholder Ralph Evans also surprised her with a letter of commendation from his colleagues on

the county board. The winners, selected by Judges Karl Faster and Earl Blust, were as follows: Oils and acrylics, first place, Janis Sneaner who also took first last year; second place, Keither Hoffman, and third, Jean Rosenthal: water colors, Tom Williams, Bill Ressler and Raul Milia-Mora; mixed media, Jacquline Chesley, Marcia McDonald and Linda Adato. The craft show, Blair said, drew craftsmen from seven states, Delaware, Virginia, Florida, New York, New Jcrsky, Pennsylvania and Maryland. He said there were diversified exhibits, among them German scissor cutting, hand puppets, stained glass and hand carved birds. Blair paid special.tribute to the special crew of workmen, headed by Robert Waterman, superintendent of maintenance, who worked from 5:30 p.m. to 1 a.m; to transform the tent from an art show to a craft show. For Blair and the rest of his

hard working committee, only memories remain of this year's two big events, but already they’re planning for the . 1983 cultural weekend in early August and judging from the critical acclaim it has just received, the Stone Harbor art-craff shows should be around for quite a few years.
