COURT HOUSE - The County Historical Society’s fall lecture series will begin Oct. 6 with Kitty Appleyard of Bargaintown. who will lead a discussion on miniatures. Her collection of miniature antique furniture will be on display. Jerry MacDonald of Wildwood Crest is the speaker Nov. 3 on his study of the development of the railroads from the 1850s to the 1970s. He will highlight the rivalry between the West Jersey and Seashore

Birds Focus Of Lectures CAPE MAY POINT - The second of a series of lectures sponsored by the Cape May ' Bird Observatory will be given 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, with Sid Guthreaux and Paul Kerlinger of the State University of New York speaking on The Use of Radar in Raptor Migration Studies. Other lectures in the series, to be presented in the Fire Hall on Yale Ave., are: Sltkagl Spring by Peter Dunne of the observatory, .Oct. 16, and The Wondrouk All American Laughing Gull by Dr. Penny Bernstein, Stockton State College, Oct. 16. Admission is free, with a donation to CMBO requested. Upper Township Democrat Club thank all of the families who attended their fifth annual picnic Labor Day at the B. L. England Recreation Center in Beesley's Point. Ms. Shirley Battersby, chairperson, said that the new concept suggesting that families bring their own picnic lunch was very well received by the more than 125 attending. Ways To Learn About Shells MIDDLE TWP. Larry Strange, professor of Marine Biology at Montgomery County College, will be the speaker at the Jersey Cape Shell Club, 8 p.m. Monday Oct. 4, at the Wetlands Institute, Stone Harbor Blvd. Shell classes will start 7:30 p.m. prior to the meeting, for the purpose of learning everything about
shells.
The Shell Club will conduct a Shell Safari 1:45 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 2, meeting at the north end of Reeds Beach (off Rt. 47). Letty Parks, president, will be instructing the group in comparing Bay Shells to Ocean Shells. In case of rain the Safari is cancelled. School Meals STONE HARBOR - Free and reduced price meals will be available this year for pupils at the borough elementary school, 93rd and Third Ave. Income limits range from $6,080 for a family of one to $28,600 for a family of eight.
