Mews Notes from—The Cape Mays Dolly Stango

The Alter and Rosary Society^f Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, Cape May, on Wednesday, Sept. 29, chartered a has to Wilmington, DE to view the 32-foot tall stainless steel sculpture of the Madonna, Our Latly of Peace. The six-ton sculpture was commissioned by Father John Sweeny, pastor of the Our Lady of Peace parish in Santa Clara, CA, who raised $340,000 from donations so that sculptor Charles Parks of Wilmington created the beautiful Madonna for this amount. Our Lady of Peace will be shipped crosscountry sometime in October to Santa Clara, where she will be placed between two highways as a reminder of world peace from a Caljfbmia church. Visitors, to Rodney Square in Wilmington where she now stands, are struck by. the Madonna’s face and eyes. She’s beautiful, kind, compassionate and she’d sad, but the visit is uplifting and .people from all over are stopping by with their cameras and bouquets to place at her feet. CONGRATULATIONS to new Police Chief Harry Stotz Jr..\and also to Lt. Angleo Infanto. Lt. Infanto and City Hall’s administrative

secretary, Cynthia Buck, were responsible for the beautifully planned retirement dinner-celebration recently for Chief ‘‘Pete" Francesconi.
