September event.
Answering a call for the need for cultural support in South Jersey, some 1,000 music lovers thronged Convention Hall for the benefit champagne concert for the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. Concert sponsors were apprehensive that there might be a small turnout, but when they saw the happy, enthusiastic audience they were in a state
of euphoria.
Roman Osadchuk, a former professional opera singer who performed Saturday night with the orchestra, told the audience: "It's really great to see an idea become a reality and to see everybody having a lot of fun." Osadchuk, co-chairman with Charles Pessagno, drew cheers and loud ap-' plause when he announced that the six year old orchestra, under the baton of Michael Buglio, has agreed to perform each September
in Wildwood.
Alan Gould, president of the hospital's Board of
(jpvemors, summed up the feelings of most of the audience which for $20 a ticket was served a fare oL first class music, unlimited champagne and hors
d’oeuvres.
"This is not only good for the hospital, it is good for the entire county because it provides us with the culture we need," he said. THE IDEA for the orchestra’s appearance in South Jersey came form Osadchuk after he met Buglio at the governor's inauguration in Trenton last year. Osadchuk sang the National Anthem there after which he invited Buglio to bring his orchestra to Cape May county from North Jersey. The concert had been scheduled for last spring, but was canceled because of what appeared to be meagre interest. This time, however, more extensive planning took place over the sum-
mer months.
Osadchuk sang one number at the Saturday night concert, a Neapolitan love song that brought the audience to its feet with applause and cheers for an encore. Osadchuk explained later tha^ he couldn’t sing more Saturday night because he hadn’t had much time to rehearse. 'Tve been too busy selling tickets," he said.

Let Me Call You Sweetheart,'' “School Days" and "I Wonder Who’s Kissing Her Now." The concert concluded with a rousing version of Sousa’s "Stars and Stripes Forever."
