Sounds BY CHARLES P. LAMEY What can I say. except the secondGo Go’s album is every bit as fun and exciting as last year's smash debut. Again, the The Go Go's have a strong collection of bouncy, exuberent pop tunes, which sparjele. thanks to their strong harmonies and driving rhythms. The only drawback is their cover of the 60s chestnut Cool Jerk,'\ but the rest is hot and worth hearing. The Go Go's are’ well on their way to becoming the most importaht group of the eighties.Vacation (I.R.S.) is a must. David Johansen has been kicking around for nearly a rdecade releasing albums that have come close to being hits but always falling just a bit short. Those who've seen him weave his magic in front of an audience have always.known Johansen possesses the talent to go all the way and this might be the platter to do it. Live'lt Up (BLUE SKY) captures Johansen onstage with a rockin' band and a highly receptive audience. David Johansen is in fine voice going through the songs his fans have always cherished. The main selling point and getting the most airplay, thus far. is his medley of Animals' hits. A David Johansen concert is a true party and this is the next best thiftg. Blues Fans should track down the new album by Magic Slim and The Teardrops> RAW MAGIC (ALLIGATOR. P.O. Box 60234, Chicago, III. 60660) has some tough, no nonsense vocals and stinging guitar solos. This music is full of power and passion, making each playing a special treat. Magic Slim might not be well known outside of Chicago, but this high energy music, if heard, should change all that. There's a potential superstar working in New York by the name of Justin Trouble. Ills debut album is chock full of tight, melodic rockers that have been influenced by the likes of The Byrds, Stones, and Beatles. Trouble has a strong confident voice and is fellow musicians are seasoned pros. Available by writing to Casino Records, 40—14 Forley St., Elmherst, N.Y. 11373. Heart's new album Private Audition (Epic) is, once again, plagued with the same drawbacks that keep them from producing a consistently strong record. Ann Wilson has a great voice, capable of rocking out with the best or being coy on a ballad and the twin guitars of Nancy Wilson and Howard Leese are sharp and exciting. But, unfortunately. Heart’s songwriting has its ups-and-downs, and too often the group sounds like a mediocre bar band: Still, they make powerful singles and a "Greatest Hits” collection would always be worth buying.
