Hits Rival On Cutting Legal Aid For State

Citing the ll percent increase in violent crime in Cape May County last year, Democatic U.S. Senate candidate Frank Lautenberg, in a speech before the Policemen's Benevolent Association convention in Atlantic City, charged that His opponent has repeatedly voted against federal anticrime programs New Jersey needs to keep it safe. Fighting crime is a vital component of the campaign to bring new business to New Jersey and put people back to work, Lautenberg stated. “NO ONE WANTS to work where it's not safe,” Lautenberg asserted. "No business wants to spend thousands of dollars on security, and no State that is interested in economic development can afford to relax in the fight against crime.” Noting that almost $360 million in property was stolen in New Jersey last year, Lautenberg cited a number of votes by, and positions of, his opponent, Congresswoman Millicent Fenwick, that have hindered the fight to keep New Jersey safe from crime and conducive to SHE VOTED to phase out the Law Enforcement
