RICK AND MARY Ensslen are slowly descending from cloud Nine following their magnificent wedding at St. George’s Grtek Orthodox Cathedral in Philadelphia; being driven by liveried chauffer in a white Rolls Royce to the reception for their friends at the Union League; and dining and dancing, to two orchestras, among elegantly gowned guests with their stylishly attired escorts into the wee small hours of the morning. Following moving farewells to their parents, Alexandra and John Kokonos and Jane and Hank Ensslen, they boarded a plane for Bermuda, spent five glorious days at Loew’s Bermuda Beach Hotel and then five more at Skytop in the Poconos and returned to their new home in Avalon to finally settle down. Forgive us you Anglo-philes — we now have our own Prince Rick and Lady Mary. Mary Ensslen (we still can’t get used to the soilhd of her new name) got a position as histology technologist at Burdette Tomlin which was an added wedding present since it’s so close to her home and Rick is back doing business at Seashore Home Supply but the aura of love and excitement still surrounds them and their happiness is marvelously contagious! WELL WE can’t win them all but it really brought it home to us that neighbors Ellen and Harry Frey, on 85th St. were leaving when the big van moved up and started loading their furniture. They’ll be moving into their new home at 425 Carriage Rd., Stellilite, Florida, 32937. They showed us pictures of the new domicile and it’s beautiful — lots larger than their home here with loads of windows and bright and airy. We wish them much luck and many good neighbors like themselves.

THE WETLANDS Institute had a special evening for members orily on Oct. 9th. There were a slide presentation and refreshments AND the sjBrawing of chances for the qiiilt designed by Marion Glaspey who silk screened each square containing flora and fauna of this area. Helping with the intricate Stitching were: Edith Soltis, Adeline Little, Danny Collett and Eleanor Neill of CMCH; Helen Down and Mrytle Wilson of Avalon; Edna Hunter and Elsie Snyder of Stone Harbor; and Fran Maher of North Wildwood. The quilt is.a priceless heirloom^lo be handed down through fenerations. It was coveted by everyone who saw it and the lucky winner was Nancy Hovic of Beaver Dam Rd. in Middle Township. BILL SCHAFFER of Shelter Haven Realty and president of the Stone Harbor Republican Club, in an impressive ceremony in the S.H. Fire House at the Oct. 11th meeting, presented two checks for $100 from the club to Mrs. Robert Sellers of the Rescue Squad and Glenn A. Townley of the Fire Department as a token ot thanks for the outstanding • services both drganizations render to the borough. The fact that both recipients wore their uniforms made the occasion more colorful and significant. We talked \&ith Mr. Schaffer and he told us the club hopes to make this an annual award ceremony honoring different organizations every year. W. Robert Hentges, County Surrogate, who is seeking reelection gave a brief but informative talk, other Republicans up for election who were present were: James . Kilpaprick for freeholder. John Mahoney for Congress, Angela Pulvino county clerk, Mayor Arden Hand. Harry* Strohmetz, Jack

MRS. HENRY Frederick Ensslen. Ill, is the former Mary Kokonos. daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John S. Kokonos of Stone Harbor. They were married at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Cathedral, Philadelphia.

Fitzpatrick, and Herbert L. Hornsby, Jr. for borough - council. In the audience we also spied' Freeholder Ralph Evans and Councilman Lou Clelland. We were told that while Councilman Eric Erinberg had expected to be present, he has for many years held an annual reunion with his WW II buddies meeting at different spots around the country This year the meeting was held in Corpus Christi, Texas Unfortunately for Bud this year he contracted a virus which is still having a debilitating effect. THE PARTY of the year on the island is the Stone Harbor Lions’ Club Car Raffle Night, the dinner dance and raffle are held as a benefit for the Helen L.' Diller Vacation Home for the Blind in Avalon. The site/for the extravaganza was the '76 House in Swainton. After much dining and dancing Emcee. Bill Dougherty of the S.H. Pharmacy took the mike and the excitement began to mount. Bill had a novel way of conducting the raffle calculated to raise the blood pressure of Everyone present. For instance he would announce that the next number drawn would entitle the holder to a theater weekend in New York. Then he'd say the next six numbers drawn Will be losers. There would be sighs after these were drawn. That Would quickly be followed by another winner and so on. When the number of chances in the tumbling wire diminished to 5 the Emcee asked if any of the lucky holders wished to sell their ticket. There were no takers. Three more winners were drawn, Mr, and Mrs. Joe Ostrowski woh the cruise to the Caribbean; Dr. and Mrs. Stockbroker won a weiek's vacation in Jamaica; and Phil Judyski won the 19’’ G.E. color television. There were then only the two remaining grand prizes to be drawn. The $2600 World Wide Travel Ticket and the 1983 Lynx automobile valued at $8000. Owners of the last tickets were Jane and Jim Owirfgs and Mayor Ellsworth P. Armacost who sent a substitute to take his place. Dougherty then pulled another reverse, taking one ticket from the container he said the remaining one would win the World Wide Travel prize. When he read the number of the undrawn number it became apparent that Avalon's beloved mayor had won the privilege to travel and Jane and Jim Owiggs had won the new car! We haven’t been able to get the names of all the winners for you yet but will try to print them next week. Deanna Shaw Betrothal Told Mrs. Diane E. Shaw of Rio Grande and Dick Shaw of Shawcrest are please to > announce the engageim i > of their daughter Deanna Lynn to John Fraser Wilson, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Wilson of Toronto, Ontario, Canada Miss Shaw is a graduate of Lower Cape May Regional High School and attended Glassboro State College. She is currently employed by Shawcrest Mobile Home Park. Wilson is a recent graduate of Temple University. A-Nov. 12 wedding is planned.
