COURT HOUSE-As the foundation of the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital’s five-story patient tower nears the halfway mark, me patient need of the residents of . The prime feature of the new expansion will be the 132 new patient beds including a modern 16-bed intensive and coronary care unit and expanded modern surgery suite. The third and fourth floors will each contain 46
patient beds.
THE FIRST STEP to the expansion of thfe hospital'^ endrgy plant is well under way with two new fuel tanks in the ground outside Emergency and the pipes being installed in the ground floor of the present hospital and the tower. Once the patient tower is completed, (he present facilities will undhrgo modernization: The emergency room will be enlarged, a cardlac/trauma treatment room added, and patient and family waiting areas enlarged. Radiology, respiratory and physical therapy and others will be expanded to meet currerit and future patient needs. AT THE PRESENT rate of progress, Turner Construction predicts that the tower will be enclos<kJ by mid-November. Despite construction causing inconveniences to the staff and employees at the hospital, patient care has
gone on uninterrupted, with the best interest of the patient and his or her family being the prime concern of the hospital. Anyone who. has not as
