SPCA Open LOWER TWP. - Superior Court Assignment Judge Philip Gruccio has ruled that the SPCA here on Bayshore ltd. near the Cape May Canal can remain open until at least Dec. 3. County health officials will inspect the facility weekly. Judge Gruccio is reportedly expected to hear testimony Dec. 3 on whether or not the Township must grant the facility kennel and pound licenses. Last week tin local governing body voted 2 to 1 against granting licenses to the SPCA and Dekelco Inc., the firm headed by SPCA director Dennis Kelly. Contract Upheld UPPER TOWNSHIP - AwnrdlnK of a , $44,851 lighting contract by this township has been upheld by Superior Court Judge Philip Gruccio. The court held there were no procedural irregularities in granting the contract to Delta Line Construction of Pleasantville for lights at Palermo's Caldwell Park. Jean Berger, 72 years old and a veteran of two wars, is the new commander of Uie Cape May County American legion. His main goal is to bring new blood into the legion which now basically consists of World War II veterans. "We will start working on <he younger generation, those who served in the Vietnam War and after the Korean War," Berger said. Berger, who came to the United States from Switzerland on Christmas Day of 1922 when he was 12 years old, carries
American legion applications in his pockets and in flis new recruitment campaign he hopes to lighten the load considerably "One of the purposes of*|he American legion is to emphasize Americanism," the immigrant points out "We tell our members that if they work for the Legion the legion will work for America."
