THE OPTIMIST Club also sponsors a Christmas Parly for grade school Speci-al Education students, a spelling £nd math bee for first, second and third grades, a science fair for fourth and fifth grades, an Oratorical Contest for High School students, and other special projects during the year. The majority of the projects sponsored by the club are financed by monies raised by Bingo, which is’ held 7:30 p.m. every Sunday at the Avalon Com-

Bernardo’s other students included Lola Falana and Chubby Checker. Cosby, who dropped out of Temple U. in 1962 during his junior year to begin a career as a stand-up comedian, has been named to a four-year
term on Temple’s Board of Trustees. Cosby received his bachelor's degree from Temple's School of Communications and Theater belatedly in 1977. By then he had acquired both a master’s degree and a doctorate in education at the University of Massachusetts. The university considers him “Temple’s best-known alumnus." He wore a Temple T.-shirt on the cover of his album, ’.’Why Is There Air?", and Temple sweat shirt in epjsodcs of NBC’s “I Spy,” in which he portrayed Temple graduate Alexander Scott. Cosby, was also a dropmtt from Central High. •He earned his high school diploma in the Navy and will receive the Central Alumni Association's Barnwell Distinguished Service Award Nov. 3.
