NEWARK - The Internal Revenue Service has announced a major • redesign of its'"Understanding Taxes" program, a complete free educational package, which teaches high school juniors and seniors important aspects of the Federal tax system and was used by five ' million high school students last year. The new “Understanding Taxes" curriculum will include more information and skill development than before, the IRS said. The materials will will now be presented in a "Modular" format, permitting teachers greater flexibility when scbcdaling and

WILDWOOD - In keep ing with one of its goals of aiding in Community' Welfare, the Wildwood Civic Club Evening Membership Department Chairman Mrs. Annette Jackson presented $4,000 to Robert Smeltzer, chairman of the Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital Building Fund Drive. At its regular monthly

meeting the Evening Membership Department welcomed seven new members. Mrs. Chrl Calloway, membership chairman, presented Mrs. Richard Cunningham, Mrs. William Dougherty, Mrs. William Gillen, Mrs. Michael Melnicoff. Mrs. Thomas Parsons, Mrs. Sholto Rasmussen and Mrs. Harvey Vignola with

a personally created silk rose, a copy of the bylaws and standing rules. THE PROGRAM consisted of a ‘'Barbara Walters’ type interview of MiSs Terri Lewis of Wildwood, Catholic High School, the EMD’s delegate to Citizenship Institute at Dpuglass College in June of ’82.

THE CURRICULUM includes explanations of the basic tax forms and concepts, such as taxable income, adjustments, deductions and credits, and. includes hypothetical situations for students to work. New chapters cover such* information as the economics of taxation, tax legislation and how IRS performs its* tax administration functions. Student course books, teachers’ manuals, special training visual aids and audio-visual materials are supplied free by the IRS. Teachers do not have to be skilled in tax law to teach this course. To assist teachers the IRS has developed a compfeshensive guide on the many uses of the "Understanding Taxes* 1 curriculum. Vecere was inducted into active membership in the American Association of Orthodontists at the 31st annual meeting of the Middle Atlantic Society of Or--»Uhodontists here Oct. 16-21. Vecere is in practice in Court House. He is a 1982 graduate of Temple University. The Middle Atlantic Society has more than 600 active members in Pennsylvania east of- the Alleghenies, New Jersey, Delaware.
