When Pat'Benatar Mfigs the straight-ahead rockers on her new album Get Ner ✓ou* (Chrysalis) the sound is hard driving and ex citing. Unfortunately, her slower numbers are full of dull cliches, seemingly aimed for radio play and nothing else. Pat Benatar is a fine vocalist and her band consists of some dynamite players. It’s just her choice of material that sometimes needs questioning. Run For The Roses (Arista) is the latest solo outing from the leader of The Grateful Dead. Jerry Garcia. Excmt for the dire arrangemfnt of The Beatles' / SMv Her Stan ding There, this isn’t a bad record and ^will surely please Garcia's legion of followers. His laid back voice will probably bore soigne into dreamland, but that's his personal style and one shouldn't fault him for that. As can be expected, there are some hot guitar solos here. It's hard to believe Burning Rome's album (A&M) is their first. This is hard driving, powerhouse rock and roll. The forceful gutars easily enhance the firey vocals of Vicki Thomas. Burning Rome should have a bright future ahead of them. BILL EVANS was one of the most tasteful jazz pianists ever, and his death was a shock to jazz fans around the w.orld. Eloquence (Fantasy) is a strong collection of previously unreleased gems. Evans’ style was complex, yet always melodic. A true master, it's nice to see new records will be forthcoming. ^ There are nkhty of girl groups makin^he concert »

circuit today, but two who have a strong chance of fitiding stardom are the The Catholic Girls and Cheetah. The Catholic Girls are a

delightful Jersey pop group Whose, debut on MCA should please all fans of the Go Go's. These girls have sharp, clear voices and give their sparkling material plenty of enthusiasm. Each of the ten tracks on this Vecord could be»a hit.
