TRENTON - Wildwood* Crest Commissioner Charles Guhr was recently installed as President of the N.J. Leajgue of Municipalities. The first League president from Cape May County in 20 yfs., the new president previously served as 2nd and 1st vice president, and a member of the organization's Executive Board. According to Guhr, the CAP Law and Riparian issues head the League’s list of priorities. “The CAP law has to be addressed. All over the state municipalities are finding it too restrictive,” he said. "It's not so much life programs that local governments have control over, but the ones that are '"State and Federally mandated that arc causing the problems.” JContinuing, Guhr emphasized that the Riparfan Rights issue is a serious problem. Many of our member municipalities are adversely affected by this issue. It must be settled once and for all so that people don’t have this cloud, hanging over their heads 1 ' he asserted. The new president left Sat., Nov. 27, for the Na-
tional League of Cities convention in Los Angeles. Many issues discussed at the convention will effect every city in the nation. Guhr has been involved in the Sbte League of Municipalities for eight years. He’s served on all convention commit ties and as moderator of many forums and programs. Locally, he's served as Crest Mayor for eight years, and as a commissioner for two. He's currently director ^of both' Revenue and Finance and Public Affairs.
