Set Holiday Tours For New Year
CAPE MAY *7- This historic Victorian com-' munity will celebrate the holidays frith a festive Christmas in Cape May house tour 6-10 p.m. New Year’s Day, Jan. 1. Featured on this year’s tour are private homes and guest houses, a number of which have been recently restored, as well as several churches. Some of the guest houses included are the Queen Victoria, Captain Mey’s Inn and the Bernard-Good House. AMONG THE private homes are the popular'Sea House, with a tree in every room, and the Americana Room with its f’Living Musical Museum.All Of the buildings have been especialy decorated for the holidays and pi-ovide a fascinating glimpse at the decorating styles of the individual owners. House at 1048 Washington St. will serve as a reception center during the tour. This historic structure contains the city’s Victorian museum and will be decorated with 19th Century ornaments. Tickets for the tour will go oiyale 3 p.m. Jan. 1 at the house. TICKETS MAY BE purchased after 6 p.m. at most of the homes and a map of the tour is supplied. A* bright orange banner will indentify each of the buildings that are open. GUIDED WALKING tours of Cape May’s primary historic district will also be given 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. t and 10
a.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, beginning from the information booth on the Mall at Washington and Ocean Sts. The hour and a half trip examines * the history, architecture and gossip of . this national landmark 9lty. Advance tickets are not required for any of the tours. All proceeds go to the continuing restoration of the Emlen Physick House by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts, sponsor of the gala ChHstmas in Cape May activities.
