One of the brightest, hap piest singles currently on the charts is Toni Basil’s Mfckey. It’s bouncy. . sixties-inspired organ is perfect hacking foi 1 Basil's cheerful voi<^c. Basil's debut album' Word of _ Mouth (Chryialis) isn’t nearly, as hot vis thfe hit Mickey, but it f does show plenty of promise for this contemporary pop songstress. Overall, this record is a lot of fun. Fajts of The Police are going to he baffled by they group's . guitarist Andy Summers' joint project with Kihg Crimson guitarist/leader Robert Fripp. I Advance' Masked <A&M) has the two guitarists expanding the boundaries of their instruments. At times. Summers and Fripp can be very melodic with smooth, flowing solos and then the •duo will blend in some electronics to enhance their guitar work and take things ' to the more avant garde side. Casual Police fans ap : proach with caution, but those who want to hear two musicians take some \ chances give it a spin. AJtT PKPPKR’S-life was full of pain and setbacks, but as an alto saxophonist few in the jazz world could compare. These live sides are highly enjoyahje. Pepper's solos are wfelHhought out and his support is tight and sympathetic^rt Pepper might not fWve ever

become a household name, but jazz lovers will certainly miss this mkn’s music Don’t miss ttQadgame (Galaxy). Buddy Guy ia one of the hottest blues guitarists in Chicago, yet many of his releasE?s haven’t lived up to

his reputation. Not so with Stone Crazy! (Alligator, P.O. Box 60234. Chicago. ILL. 60660), as (his album is full of fiery, exciting blues. Buddy Guy is/ a master guitarist, who can take a lengthy solo and never*sound tedious. This is probably due to his driving b^ewup band. This would be a perfect Christmas gift for any blues fan.
