* TRENTON — Senator James R. Hurley, R-Cumberland-Cape May, has been unanimously reelected Senate Minority Whip for a second one-year term. Hurley has served in GOP leadership positions in both the Senate and Assembly. As a legislative leader. Hurley represents the interests of the 19 GOP senators in dealing with the Kean administration and Democratic legislators. HURLEY, OF Millville, was elected to the Senate in 1981 after serving seven terms in the Assembly. He has held GOP leadership positions since 1972. He was Assistant Majority Leader in 1972, Assistant Minority Leader from 1973 to 1976. and Minority Leader from 1977 to 1981. The Senator operates Hurley Associates, a public relations and advertising firm in Millville. THE COP SENATORS also unanimously voted to re-felect Donald T. DiFrancesco, R-Union, as Mincifity Leader; S. Thomas Gagliano, RMonmouth, as Assistant Minority Leader and John H. Dorsey, R-Morris, as Assistant Minority Whip. In addition, the 19 Republican Senators unanimously voted to create an unprecedented fifth leadership position of Minority Budget Officer to be filled by Senator Walter Foran, R-Hunterdon.
KORAN IS the ranking Republican on the Legislature's Joint Apropriations Committee. "The establishment of this new position underscores the* importance the minority party places on the fiscal affairs of the state," Hurley said. "We need someone in leadership whose finger is on the pulse of the budget process. Senator Foran was the logical choice. He has 13 years of firsthand experience in the appropriation process as a member of the appropriations committee."
Pinelands OK For Township IW5W LISBON - The New Jersey Pinelands Commission has given its approval to\the revised master plan a'fcd land use ordinance of Upper Township as required by the 1979 Pinelands Protection Act. The changes were certified with conditions. Further minor revisions must be made. Among the 22 municipalities previously certified by the commission is Woodbine. The commission has now certified • the revisions of 27 of the 52 Pinelands Area municipalities.
