Sometimes, when we read about some tragic situation, some distant war. we feel so helpless. We 09k ourselves. “What can I do?" And. sadly, the answer comes bach to us that there is much beyond our own capabllitigs. Put. on the other Hand, in our own immediate environment. in this time and.in this place, there are things many of us can do. We never hnow what impact a gift from within ourselves might bring. How vde choose to give our money, our time or something we have is a very personal choice. OK CAT Scanner

COURT HOUSE - State Department, of Health approval has been granted for . Burdette Tomlin Memorial Hospital to purchase a Computerized Axial Tomography unit - (CAT Scanner), announced Brian Buonani, assistant administrator. A room, in the Radiology Department of the new patient tower will house the CAT Scanner. ; THE ADDITION of the CAT Scanner will afford greater benefits to the community, the hospital, the physicians and patients, Buonani said. "This is a quick and accurate means of determining the site, type and extent of disease.” Acquisition of the CAT will reduce the waiting time and transportation to

a scanner at another hospital," noted Keith Babor, chief X-Ray technician. "The wait and transporting can be detrimental to a phtient with certain head or abdominal injuries.'-. • THE CAT LENDS itself to outpatient usd, and in the case of inpatient use may even reduce the length of patient stay. Because of its accuracy the scanner further eliminates the uncertainty of whether or npt complications exist,” noted Dr. Marvin Podolnick.. in order to obtain permission from the Department of Health to purchase a CAT Scanner, the Hospital had to show its need and utilization of the equipment,” commented Buonani.
