Open May I to Oct. 31. the contest, open to anyone catching a fish from a boat out of Avalon, ocean dr in the bay, surf fishing and on piers, it was aVvast success according to Rtiss who tells us that upwards of 150 people registered and the following 20 winners, in their class, will receive hand-

Their combined efforts made the contest a success. the sWne harbor Women’s Civic Club held its Christmas Get-Togetper at the iWhitebrier Inn in Avalon Dec. 16. Jo Levixon and Fran Van^Nex* and multi-talented Mai-ge Otten. It was more thaiHjust the same-old thing luncheon for a bunch of chattering women. Conversation at our table sounded more Hke an ecumenical meeting in the truest spirit of ' Christmas. All of us were genuinely trying to better the holidays of those less fortunate in the county.' We all agreed Cape Human Resources, Inc. is best at this job (phone 72^-4902). They welcome all usable items from shoestrings, to canned food to used furniture. They cannot accept rummage of course. DURING PUNCH, ir represible Mary Conwell circulated among the tables wearing black with r numerous gold'necklaces and a frothy scarlet garter edged in lace concealing a. tiny revolver. She collected more orders for these than she could .accept for the Civic Club boutique^ In view of the number of orders, we must conclude that every marriage isn’t paradise on the island, but don’t wori7 guys, those sixsfiooters looked pretty harmless to us. If you’re in the business of being nosey (which we are) It pays to get around — ^ socially speaking of
course. Among other things we learned: The Nifties made a Christmas call at borough hall along with S.H.’s Santa, Joe Scott of 92nd St. and his helpers. Grace Sheeran, Harry St>oh metz and Ray deLaurentia and brightened the following offices: the library, bofough clerks, buildings inspectors and the'(Bah, Humbug) tax office. When we heard this news, Marge hastened* to add that the Nifties were, not, in any way, in competitidn with the CMCH Angelas Chorus We learned from Ruth Kapp that the Sea Uions made a $5000 contribution to tpe Helen Diller Vacation Home for the Blind in Avalon, that Irene McOuHough made a ceramic figurine representing Marge as a pettite ballerina and that Calvin and Grace Wingert, of 100th St., will be celebrating their Golden , Wedding Anniversary on .Christmas day. NOBODY BUT nobody can decorate thd inside of their home for the holidays like Marguerite and Bill Klotzbucher .of 95th St. They gave ti cocktail party oh Dec. 13 that.was a dilly. The decollations, strung from each rafter, adofned the mantle and brightened every table, made it Disney World for every guest. They were outdone only by the bully grub and the company. We rfftet four great additions to the winter social season: Herman and Marie Slri of 275 94th|St., and Norman and Dorothy McMahon. 9703 First Ave. Norman was the Fred Astaire of the C. of C. following, dinner dance. The Klotzbuchers make a terrific team af host and hostess.
