Inc /CETA's Women In Touch Program According to WIT Coordinator Elsa Vernon, this day-long workshop has been designed as part of an ongoing effort to provide county women with up to date and practical career information CONDUCTING THAT workshop will be Ann Jawin, author and educa tional and employment ad-
visor to the New York City Chapter of the National Organization for Women Ms Jawin. in addition to presenting an overview of employment in the computer field, will also discuss how current job skill* might be transferred into computer skillp. Women’s Club (From Page 72) ^ allowed visitors to watch the ocean or face the street IN 1 93 7 the first clubhouse was built, costing over $5,000 Part of the contract for building this club house was that all matches had to be pur chased from the town s merchants During the 40s the club celebrated its 25th anniver sary as a member of the Women's Club Foundation They continued their many activities for youths and added two nightly com munity singing programs
They also turned their ef forts to help the war by preparing bandages for wounded service men. THEY FURNISHED one of the 189 company day rooms at Fort Dix They contributed funds to the Wqr Relief Fund and the American Red Cross and purchased defense bonds Corsages of war stamps were given to honored guests They continued their war efforts by pro viding cakes and smokes to the Coast (Juard men sta tioned in the borough In the mid-40s the mor

Literature Committee was started, along with a family night, a husband's night for song and dance and a musical show "By The Sea” were added to the events The fabulous and continuing Coronation of Little Miss Stone Harbor began and is now in its 30th consecutive year MOVING INTO the 60s they started a clothes line Art Show, held an "Easter in July’’ and a "Christmas in August" dessert parties
They also enjoyed their own 50th Anniversary with a huge celebration. They assisted thd borough, the following year, to celebrate its 50th anniversary and in troduced outdoor dances on the basketball courts. While going strong with all its activities the club went through a year of grief after the 62 hurricane destroyed its club house Undaunted, they rebuilt in 1963 at the same location. WITH THE START of the 70s some members started to take up permanent residences in the town and as they became better known in dther local
groups, the Civic Club membership grew until to day some 160 members are on the rolls, with over 70 fctfreent permanent residents As it has done over the past 70 years this anniver sary year's events will con tinue to carry on the many fine traditi6as of the club as well as some special events during the year Most of this year's events will be on a monthly basis with the aim of winterizing the club hoase for year around activity that will benefit all other organize lions in the community
