Sturdy’s Interest A Record
STONE HARBOR - Sturdy Savings and Loan depositors earned a record $6,702,836 in interest in 1982, President John L. Arrgour announced at the association's annual meeting here. “However," Armour reported, “the record high interest we paid to depositors meant that for the most of 1982, mortgage interest rates remained high and mortgage lending activity remained sluggist ••THE RECENT decline in short-term interest rates has allowed Sturdy Savings and Loan to gradually reduce the rates charged on mortgage loans as the year ended," the president continued. “Our mortgage portfolio now totals $60,184,481, up from
$54,545,324 in 1981." According to Armour, the economic conditions which continued to test savings and loan institutions over the past year have begun to stabilize and improve. "WE ARE CONFIDENT that if economic conditions continue to improve as they have, the housing and investment needs of our community can more fully be served by the financial institutions here,” Armour said.
AT THE RECENT an nual meeting, two members of the Board of Directors were re-elected. They were Clarence D Fisher of Stone Harbor and .Donald A. Gaver of Cape
May Other directors are Carl R. Gratz, George T. Harris, John M Ludlam, John H. Mead, Ellis A. Mixner and Robert C. Wilson. All officers of the association were reappointed at the meeting.
