DING IS a frisky IV* year old black male labrador with all his shots.
EVERYONE’S talking about the face lifting at An chorage Inn by Cape May Dr. Pete Slav.ck and son, Pete. CAPE MAY missed out by a whisker as the site for Victorian background scenes for "Once Upon A Time in America,” the $40 million dollar budget movie about the Jewish Mafia The film just rounded out a half year’s filming in Rome and Montreal. The Jersey Victorian scenes were shot a few days ago in Spring Lake, Bclmar and Ocean Grove. These North Jersey resorts also had suitable backgrounds Robert DeNIro, Tuesday Weld and Treat Williams are among the 20 stars. A little old lady lost control of her car as she was trying to park in North Wildwood. She damaged several other cart. When the officer made out the report and asked if she was insured, she replied: "No, I don’t have to he. I have Medicare." MOST CITY FOLKS don’t even think about closing their summer homes until after Miss America is crowned, so there’s good news for the Wildwoods. At the request of NBC-TV, Albert Marks has moved this year’s crowning to Sept. 17. The Miss America telecast, which zooms NBC to the top of the ratings that week, is expected to be even greater at the later date. Up until this year, the beauty queen was always crowned the Saturday after Labor Day. Other upbeat news for resort economy comes from Alfred Stern, the expert on World’s Fairs. He writes in Variety that next year’s New Orleans fair is shaky due to poor local and Uncle Sam support. In fact, he doesn’t see a major World’s Fair in the next decade. These events always slice into seashore economy. • «i • Flooring magazine, an international publication, highlighted Wildwood en trepreneurs Ralph Grass! and Richard Nagle in photos and text They have patented a new way to install carpet without permanent damage to the floor
Called "No Tak", a patented set of carpet in stallation tools features clips that are not nailed to . the floor. AN ALUMINUM wedfeer and n rawhide hammer are used to position the clips at regular intervals along the wall. After the clips arc positioned, tackless strips arc secured to th<*m, followed by the carpet When the carpet is remov ed, the clips are simply pulled out and the floor is undamaged. Grassi, of Design Craft, just returned from Canada, where there is much in terest in the new invention. Good luck to the island’s news's! ad agency. Action, at 6505 Pacific Avenue, in * the Crest, The principals are Bill Huf, of WWOC; l^»ryn Dean, of WCMC and Jack Wiegand. *
VINELAND MAYOR Patrick Florilli opposes 'Assemblyman Guy Muziani’s plans to make Route 55 a toll road for a good reason. Fiorilli made a •Sjjrn-ey that shows wHcfwood-Cape May.bound tourists on Delsea Drive pour over $6 million Into 32 Delsea Drive roadside businesses in his area. Fiorilli thinks the Jersey Turnpike would love to get some of the toll dollars from traffic going to the casinos. So far, the A.C. Expressway and Parkway get that revenue. So he advocates the Turnpike be extended from Bordentown to Buena, Vineland, Millville and Cape May It’s much more feasible than you might think. IF THE TURNPIKE docs not invest its earnings in new projects, it will some day pay off its bonds and -then all the turnpike workers will he out of a job Due to a legal quirk, when the turnpike pays off iLs bonded indebtedness, it will become a free road *
